Elizabeth (Elsie) Grace DesRochers

The family of Elsie announce her passing on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her husband Toby; parents Fred and Grace; brothers Maurice and Bill; sister Joan. Elsie is survived by her children Lyn (Doug), Gail (Ivan), Theresa (Phil), Tim (Val), John (Jeannie), Daryl (Michelle), Kent (Cesar); 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; sisters Ethel and Pat; brothers Jack, Gordon, Percy and their families. Although modest and quiet, Mom was very proud of what she called her greatest accomplishment – her children. Her pride extended to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elsie’s strong will, independence, sharp wit and intellect helped her meet many challenges throughout her life. Academically gifted, she won the Governor-General medal in grade 12 and went on to teach in rural schools before marrying and starting her family. Mom could clean, mend or fix just about anything. She loved to garden, cook and bake. The grandchildren always looked forward to the pails of cookies she would send to the lake for them. Mom was loved and cherished by the family and will be missed.  No funeral service as per Mom’s wishes. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital foundation of Saskatchewan, 1-345 3rd Ave. S., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 1M6. Arrangements entrusted to Conley Funeral Home, Raymore and Fort Qu’Appelle, SK.
