Henry Eli Dumont
January 21, 1946 - February 27, 2024
Henry was born on Okanese First Nation to William and Rose (Desnomie) Dumont. Eli, as he was best known, lived most of his life on Okanese. He attended Day school on Peepeekisis and completed his Grade 8. He always mentioned his favorite teacher, George Poitras. He went on to attend Balcarres completing his Grade 10. Eli was hard working man and worked for the Late Jack Stillborn for 20 years walking 20 miles. Eie is a family man although he had no children, he loved his nieces and nephews. He always honored his parents and his brothers and sisters, especially Donna.
Eli struggled with Epilepsy all his life but never let it be the deterrent. He enjoyed sports, reading and above all music. His parents’ home was always filled with musicians, music, and dancing. He had natural ability and taught himself the piano and played the guitar like ?? a bell. Uncle was a nonviolent and gentle soul, but if he was mad at you, he would draw a picture of you, especially his brothers and Wahoo.
Later in his life he moved to Regina and worked at the Mosiac Stadium. He had a section that he cleaned and was a reliable and dedicated worker. He loved the Riders, and they provided him with tickets to each game and often came to pick him up.
Eli was predeceased by his parents William and Rose Dumont, brothers Wilfred & Cecily Brass, Frankie Dumont, Joseph (Dugan) Dumont, Johnnie Dumont, Sisters Dorothy (Bill) Kohorst, Mona (Jim) Wallace, Bernadette (Ed) Cote, Lynn Brass, infant sister Katherine, Brother-in-laws Kenneth McLeod Sr, Arthur Waker. Nephews David Bear, Ken McLeod Jr., Edward Cote, Jonathon (Suckie) Personius. Nieces Marilyn Dumont, Rose (Sissy) Constant, Great niece and nephew Steffi, Riel and Gabrielle Nasecapow and Alexis McLeod.
Eli leaves to mourn his sisters: Anita McLeod, Florence Constant, Theresa Walker, Pauline (Louis) Personius, Donna Dumont, Debbie Quezance and numerous generations of nieces and nephews who dearly loved him.
Henry passed away peacefully in Regina on February 27, 2024. Wake will be held Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 4 pm at the Okanese Learning Center Gymnasium, Okanese First Nation, SK. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11 am in the Catholic Church, Peepeekisis Cree Nation, interment to follow in the church cemetery.
