Benjamin Joseph Gurney passed away of a heart attack in his home on July 2, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta.

Benjamin Joseph Gurney was born on May 24, 1972 in Regina Saskatchewan B.J. with the struggles throughout his life time was a survivor, strong willed and loved his family.

Predeceased are his biological mother Jennifer Sylivia Cappo and father from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Benjamin Joseph survived by his aunty Crystal and uncle Conrad Cappo, uncle James Cappo, uncle Scotty, uncle Brock, and uncle Dennis.

Benjamin Joseph’s adoptive family, father Ralph Sheldon Gurney; mother Nicole Mellis; siblings David M. Gurney, Robert E. Gurney, James G. Gurney; sisters Michelle Murray, Dawn V. McIntosh, (biological sister) Kimberly Visser, Shannon J. Gurney, Elizabeth A. Gurney, Lisa J. Gurney; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.

Benjamin loved his sports and enjoyed playing ice hockey, street hockey, basketball and challenging those that could play chess. He stuck close to his siblings and was always there when anyone needed a helping hand. He was as well, a great volunteer all around. His laughter was well known as well as his good sense of humor and great personality. He graduated from Magrath Alberta, where he and his family relocated from Saskatchewan. Benjamin will be missed by his family and many close friends he kept close to his heart.

Wake will be held, Friday, July 12, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Muscowpetung Education Centre, Muscowpetung First Nation. Funeral Service will held the following day, on Saturday, July 13, 2019 with Traditional Feast at 12:00 p.m. followed by Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Conley Funeral Home, Fort Qu’ Appelle, Raymore & Wynyard, 306-332-0555.
