Allan Smythe Obituary

In loving memory of Allan Warren Harold Joseph Smythe.

Allan was born on July 2, 1948, in Lafleche, Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully on

Friday, April 3, 2026, in palliative care at Wolseley Memorial Integrated Care Facility after a brave battle with congestive heart failure. He was 77 years old.

Allan was a man who worked hard throughout his life. He spent many of his years working as a farmhand, in highway maintenance, construction and Bishopric salt mines. He later worked with the housing cooperative in Regina, where he was known and

respected by many.

Like a lot of people, Dad’s life wasn’t perfect. He made mistakes along the way.

But that’s not where his story ends. At some point, Dad made a choice to change. And he did. Not just in what he said, but in how he lived his life moving forward. He became someone who valued time, connection, and the simple things. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing, and truly appreciated what nature had to offer. He had a big heart and a sharp sense of humor. If you spent enough time with him, he could make you laugh without even trying.

His friends and family meant everything to him. Staying connected, sharing stories, and simply

being together was his world, and he loved it. Whether it was time spent on the lakeshore or out

in a boat, he enjoyed teaching others how to fish, especially his nieces, nephews, and

grandchildren. He also valued time spent hunting with his sons and brother, sharing both his

knowledge and those experiences together.

What stands out the most is what he showed all of us:

That people can change.

That no matter your past, you can choose to be better.

Dad was predeceased by his son Shane, his brother Dennis, and his parents, Eva and Warren

Smythe.

He leaves behind his children, Dawn (Wayne), Christine, and Dennis (Maureen), his brother

Arnold (Juna), and his grandchildren Chelsy, Tyson, Metro (Kayla), Lenoard (Jasmine), Benue, Kachine, Chenoa, Delsin, and Ceana. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Eldin, Keen, Avaya, and

Jacob, along with many extended family members and friends.

Despite everything, he was loved.

We will carry both the lessons and the memories we shared together.
