Barrie Ronald Dickie
August 30, 1952 - April 16, 2026
Barrie was born in Strasbourg on August 30, 1952 to Ronald and Beth Dickie. He is survived by his sister Jo-Anne, sister Betty (Rick), nieces; Michelle (James), Danielle (Caleb), and great-nieces; Dawson, Alex and Riley.
Barrie went to elementary school in Duval and to high school at William Derby High School in Strasbourg. Barrie also spent a year studying Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan. Barrie grew up on the farm east of Duval and spent the majority of his life there farming with his father, mother and his brother Wayne and sister Jo-Anne who commuted from Regina to the farm on most weekends (until she retired last April). In 2023 Barrie moved to the Manor in Strasbourg where he spent the rest of his days.
Barrie was very passionate about the farm and farming, and stayed involved even after he moved to Strasbourg. He was a councillor with the RM of Last Mountain Valley from 1980 to 1994. Barrie was very community focused and tried to support local whenever he could. He was also involved with the committee that organized building the new rink and volunteered many winters at the rink after that. Barrie was an avid sports fan and a keen follower of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jays, he seldom missed a Jays game since he retired from farming
Barrie enjoyed spending time with the nieces and more recently, his great-nieces when we had family get togethers either at the farm or in the city until his health prevented him from travelling about.
Barrie passed away suddenly on April 16, 2026.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, at 1:30 pm at Crescent Road Cemetery, Strasbourg, Saskatchewan.
