July 5, 1980 – June 18, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, daughter, sister and kokum Billy-Joe Renee Mckay at the age of 41.

Billy-Joe is predeceased by her father Rodney Sr; brother Chad Kahnapace; nephew Dorain McKay Jr; maternal grandparents William Herald & Gladys Stonechild; paternal grandparents Angus & Edith McKay.

Billy-Joe is survived by her children Prairie Mckay (Donnie), Gabriel Cappo,

Wisdom & Ryan Keepness Jr, Raven and Marcus Mckay, and Alethea Obey; grandchildren Noah and Kiana Mckay, Nasya and Ryah Obey; her partner of many years Elijah Sangwais; siblings Naomi Kahnapace, Michael Kahnapace, Rodney Jr (Shantel), Courtney, Dorain, (Krissy), Krissy and Tishena (Jacob) McKay, Everette Papequash, Grant “Handsome” Kasiwatum Jr (Summer), Sandra Kasiwatum, Lawrence Blondeau. Billy-Joe is also survived by many close relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Wake will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 4 pm in the Muscowpetung School Gym, Muscowpetung First Nation. Funeral Service will begin with a feast at 11 am Monday, June 27, 2022 in the same location, with the funeral service to follow. Interment in the McKay family cemetery, Muscowpetung First Nation
