Brenda Patricia Bear (McKay)

December 29, 1956 – March 10, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Brenda Patricia Bear, at the age of 69 years. Brenda was born on December 29, 1956, and was called home by the Creator on March 10, 2026.

Brenda was predeceased by her grandparents, Jack and Eliza Bob; her parents, Allen and Helen McKay; her brothers Wallace, Lloyd, and Collin; and her sisters Sharon, Marilyn, Dianne, Elaine, and Laura. She was also predeceased by her children, twins Robert and Roberta Bear, Travis Bear, and Dustin Eashappie, and her grandchildren Matthew Troy McKay, and Tonya Jalisa Taypotat. Brenda is lovingly survived by her daughter Bridgette McKay (Doug) and her children Jocelynne, Chase, Tariah, and Cassidy. She is also survived by her siblings Roy McKay, Ross McKay, and Gloria McKay, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Brenda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Village for the care and kindness they showed Brenda over the many years she lived there.

Wake will be held Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at 4 pm in the Community Complex, Kahkewistahaw First Nation.

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 16th, 2026, at 2 pm in the same location. Interment to follow in the Kahkewistahaw First Nation cemetery.
