With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Brendan Stonechild. Brendan passed away peacefully among Lexy and loved ones. He was predeceased by his biological father Ernest Kahnapace and adopted mother Gladys Stonechild, siblings Cheryle/Greg, Roddy, Dexter, Trudy, Ryan Sr, uncles Vincent, Blaine, aunts Evalynne, Clarice, grandparents Connie Kahnapace and Clarence Bruce and other relatives. He is survived by his life companion Alexandria Bye, children Feather and Otis Stonechild-Goforth and their mother Sharla, biological mother Sally Melanson/Kelly and two younger biological sisters, siblings Donovan, Ronda, Debbie, Maggie/Monty, Kendra, Sonia, Randy (Brenda), Geraldine Stonechild, close relatives Robert/Farrah, Bert, Joseph, Sheldon and special aunt Ina Kahnapace and other relatives too numerous to mention.
Brendan was a kind hearted peaceful spirit with a great sense of humour. He spent the most recent 11 years working as a government office furniture mover for Erwin’s Moving Company. Brendan was a Junior Buffalo Boy for Okanese Buffalo Facility. He loved to cook and sip his orange pekoe tea. He enjoyed spending time with his children, step-children and step-grandchildren. Brendan was a very athletic young guy he loved to be involved in many sports. He also sang pow-wow. He loved Viking shows including Path to Valhalla and Valhalla Calling me and video gaming.
A Traditional Wake will be held on Monday, May 26, 2025 on Okanese First Nation at the Okanese Learning Center at 4:00 PM. Funeral services will take place the following day, Tuesday, May 27 in the same location at 11:00 AM.
