CLAUDIA LEAH SMOKER, kah wee chi peh moo tay maht keesikoo iskoowah (Sky Woman) Sunrise October 12, 1973 resting at Sunset July 10, 2025 after a 3.5 year courageous battle with cancer, Claudia has went to spirit peacefully at the at the age of 51 years greeted by our loved ones gone before us.

Claudia was predeceased by her father Eric Smoker and Mother Lorna Smoker, paternal chapans- great grandparents Alec and Eliza Belanger; maternal chapans-great grandparents Jack and Eliza Bob; mosom Joseph Belanger; kokum Verna Bob; uncles Barry and Vernon Belanger; aunties: Elizabeth George, Joanie Delorme; mosoms: Norman, Mervin, Robert, Larry, Ernest, Ray, Jack, Robert; kokums: Carol, Rosalie, Millie, Verna, Helen. Mervin Bob, Ernest Bob and Henry Isaac, Leonard Mosquito. To greet her at spirit: our sweet Avayah Smoker.

Sky woman will always be cherished by her loving partner Randy Oakes, her mother in law Linda Oakes, children: Jaylynn Carol and Jayden Lane, nosisims: Haven, Karter, Nyle, Olivia, Everliegh, Lorenzo, Greyson, Benny, Oliver, Baby Guns(Gonzalo) Sisters: Verna Smoker, Louise Watson, Glenda Dubois Brothers: Barry (Crystal) Belanger, Mykel Smoker, Matthew Smoker; Alden Watson, Aunties: Christene Belanger, Petra Belanger, Francine Allary & Pamela Belanger; Special Cousins: Julia Belanger, Joseph (Brittney), Willie, Brandon and Tayven, Nephews: Dakota (Shelaine), Daelyn, Mykel Jr., Joshua, Tyson, Barry Jr., Suri, Doyle, Brayden, Joshua, Joseph Jr., Hunter, Kaiden, Trace, Julian, Evan and Emmett. Nieces: Jadaliese, Lorna, Tatyanna, Mykaela, Myleah, Jacy, Elyssa, Falin, JoJo, Jade, Phoenix, Sage, Joselyn, Whitney, Britney, Jazera, Tara, Kaliyah, Olivia and Savannah. We also acknowledge all the children Claudia loved and nurtured.

Claudia is also survived by her Mosom: Eugene (Molly) Belanger, Kokums Lena Buffalocalf, Rose Bob and Rose Belanger. She cherished her life long friendships with Shauna (Joey) Fourhorns, Trudy (Annie) Alexson, and Loving Friends Jacob (Jakey Poo) Louison, Robin & Luke George, Abby (Landon) Tubman as well as numerous extended friends and relatives. She loved deeply and cherished everyone.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude ninaskomitin to the staff and Drs., at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and 4D Surgery units of the Pasqua Hospital, Dr. Lee and Dr. Finley will forever remain in our prayers and hearts for their dedication to Sky Woman.

The family would like to thank all those for their support during this difficult time. The wake will be held at the Chief Denton George Memorial Mutliplex, Ochapowace First Nation on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 at 5:00 p.m wake service to follow at 7:00pm. The Feast at 11:00am and funeral service to follow will be held in the CDGMM, Ochapowace First Nation on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025 at 1:00p.m. with Elders officiating. Interment of Cremation in Kahkewistahaw Cemetery at a later date. We ask that in support of all cancer survivors and warriors gone too soon that people wear kokum scarves. We respectfully request that only immediate children of the family attend wake/ funeral.
