September 4, 1949 – February 26, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Colleen Jane Olson (nee Sawchen). Colleen died peacefully at the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre on Feb 26, 2025, with family present.

Colleen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Allan; her daughter Shannon (Brad); stepsons Greg (Michelle) & Ryan (Tanya); grandchildren Kayla, Samantha, Linden, Brandon & Sydney; as well as many cousins & extended family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph & Doris Sawchen.

Colleen grew up in Wynyard, SK. She went to the University of Saskatchewan, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts & a Bachelor of Education. She later earned her Master of Education at the University of Regina. Colleen lived in Fort Qu'Appelle, SK & worked as a teacher for many years before she went on to work for the Saskatchewan Department of Education. She was truly one of the smartest people we have ever known.

Colleen loved to travel; she & Allan traveled to many places together. She was a gardener & a good cook. She was always very active & golfed for many years. She was extremely well-read, took part in book clubs & played Mahjong with her girlfriends. She will be missed deeply by friends & family. Colleen spent the last few years of her life in a battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre for the wonderful care & compassion they provided.

A small celebration of life with immediate family will be held in Fort Qu'Appelle, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre.
