Delbert Leslie Obey

August 15, 1949 – November 10, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Delbert Leslie Obey, announce his passing on November 10, 2025, at the age of 76.

Delbert was born on August 15, 1949, and was a proud resident of Pasqua First Nation, a place he lovingly called home.

Delbert is survived by loving children; Dodie Keepness, Cordell Keepness, Culinda Keepness, and Corrine Keepness.

He is also survived by his sisters Rose Toto and Lorraine Obey;

brothers Leroy Obey (Ann-Margaret), Wallace Obey (Tena), and Fenton Obey; nephew Daylan Thomas-Obey. Delbert leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

Delbert was predeceased by his parents Margaret Obey and William Pasqua, his Grandparents John Obey, Olive Obey, Isabelle Pasqua, John Pasqua; siblings, Kenneth Obey, John Obey, William Obey, Dexter Obey, Dianne Obey, and Randy Gambler.

Growing up, Delbert was well known as one of the greatest pitchers

for the Pasqua baseball team. He also had gained experience in farming in his younger years. Delbert enjoyed watching sports, western movies, and watching the rodeos on the TV. He also enjoyed watching recordings of pow wow dancing during his time at the lodge. He was always happy and was known for his great sense of humor, contagious laugh, and crazy stories, mostly true. No matter the situation, Delbert’s presence could light up any room, simply, with his laughter and kind spirit.

Friday, November 14, 2025 — 11:00 a.m.

Chief Ben Pasqua Memorial Hall

Lunch to follow

Following the service, cremation will take place with burial scheduled for a later date.
