Douglas Roy Purdue

July 8, 1945 – April 2, 2021

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Purdue on Friday April 2, 2021. His battle is over, he is now with his sweet Phoenix.

Doug is predeceased by his parents Norman and Dora Purdue, sister Fay Phillips and granddaughter Phoenix Purdue, as well as in-laws John and Hedy Hodel.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Marlene of 49 years, children- Ashley and Joelene, granddaughter Paris, siblings- Raymond Purdue, Edna (John) Stelwagen and numerous nephews, great nephews, and great nieces. He is also cherished by his in-laws Richards and Ellen Hodel, Walter Hodel, Evelyn Lucas, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews on that side.

Doug loved nothing more than entertaining the young kids. Doug’s greatest pleasure was his family. The last family outing we had took place the summer before Phoenix left us, touring southern Saskatchewan with no destination but just sight seeing.

Another of Doug’s pleasures was driving his D-9. His many years with Wappell Construction was never a chore. He loved what he did.

Doug’s many friends meant so much to him. His jokes and stories are often reminisced with friends and family.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Wynyard Golden Acres. He was in their care for a year and a half. The girls there tell us how he kept them in stitches with his humor and wit. It’s a joy to know he cared for them as much as they did for him.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Raymore Community Improvements- kids activities.
