Elewies is survived by her children Brian (Dorothy) Wagner, Sheila Schwartz, Darrel (Michele) Wagner, Carol (Scott) Hegglin, Alrid (Colette) Wagner. Grandchildren Neil (Trisha) Wagner, Jennine (Fred) Brooks, Brandon (Lindsay) Schwartz, Blaire (Ryan Kinequon) Schwartz, Kyle Wagner, Logan Wagner, Chad (Karla) Hegglin, Shawn Hegglin, Brendan, Kyden and Jenaya Wagner, fifteen Great Grandchildren, sisters Evelyn and Eleanor Mohr and Sister-in Law Marion Scherle, special nieces Bev Mohr and Sharon Martinenko and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elewies grew up south of Earl Grey for her first 10 years and later moved with her family, north of Earl Grey, until she married and started her own family. Mom was a hard worker on the farm, raising chickens and milking cows, selling eggs and cream to clothe and feed her five children who were never allowed off the farm in anything but their Sunday best. Mom’s flower garden was her pride and joy and visitors always got an in depth guided tour. Mom ran her own restaurant “Elewies’s Lunch” and later Doug’s Drive In, an Ice Cream and Hamburger shop in Strasbourg. When Mom moved to Regina, she was infamous for her great pies and soups when she worked at the Quality Tea Room and added cinnamon buns to the menu at the Sask Energy cafeteria. Mom travelled to craft sales around the province with Carol for many years. When the supply runs out, her scrubbies and chair socks will be missed, but not nearly as much as she will be.
A heartfelt thankyou to all the staff for the exceptional care Mom received at the Regina General Hospital and William Booth Grace Hospice.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 2 pm in the Earl Grey Cemetery, Earl Grey, SK. Covid-19 protocols will apply.
