August 21, 1964 – March 1, 2023.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Garry Randy Tuckanow announce that he began his journey onto the Spirit World on March 1, 2023 in Wahpiimoostoosis, Saskatchewan at the age of 58.
Garry is survived by his life partner Joanne and their children: Ariane (Sylvester), Justin (Vee), Landon (Natasha), Shalaine, Jamin, Brooklin, Tianna & Brendan. His beloved grandchildren, Natalia, Tylen, Raveena, Alexander, Shavaya, Cria, Cali-Rose, Paris, Avery, Hailey, Aiden, Tia and Honey. He also leaves behind his sisters Brenda (Elias) and Ronda. His godmother Aunt Mona Dieter and aunt Sharon Strongarm. His in-laws Verna (Brian), Denita, Sonia (Chief Mike), Cindy, Sharidy (Toby) as well an many nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins that he loved very much. Many adopted children and numerous extended family and friends. (Isaiah(Taylor), Rochelle (Mike) , Janessa, Brett, Tyrell Skyler, Tenelle, Heather, Shylah). Garry is predeceased by his parents Remie and Lavina Tuckanow, paternal grandparents; James, Elizabeth (Crowe) Tuckanow, maternal grandparents; William and Agnes (Cowicket) Fayant, brothers; Paul, Raynie and identical twin, Barry. As well as his in-laws Chief Irvin and Margaret Starblanket and his godfather Ernest Tuckanow Sr.
Garry was well known far and wide and made friends wherever he went. He will be missed dearly and we are thankful for all the connections and friendships he made in his life. The family thanks the Elders, Pastor,,fire keepers, pallbearers, drum- singers, riders, kitchen helpers/cleaners,, SBCN C&C and community, Okanese C&C and community, File Hills Health Services, Lois Dixon, File Hills Police Service, Lestock St.Joseph’s Care Home, Wascana Rehabilitation, and Regina Health District. Thank you to the respected Elders, & everyone in attendance, also all who contributed food, supplies and assistance, and everyone who extended prayers, comfort and sympathy during this time.
Traditional wake will be held on March 5, 2023 at the WhiteCalf gymnasium, Lebret, SK, funeral service will take place the following day March 6, 2023 at the same location. Interment in Star Blanket First Nation cemetery.
