Katherine Kotylak Obituary

Katherine Kotylak

September 16, 1940 –January 1, 2022

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, baba and sister on January 1, 2022 at the age of 81.  After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Kathy passed away peacefully with family by her side in the Palliative Care Unit, Regina Pasqua Hospital.  Kathy was born September 16, 1940 on her parents farm south of Leross, 3rd child of John and Mary (Kowalchuk) Olinik. Kathy’s greatest love was her family.  She always enjoyed visits and telephone chats with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.   Her second greatest love was her huge garden which resulted in many different types of preserves for all to enjoy.  Kathy enjoyed life on the farm and was proud to be a farmer.   Kathy was predeceased by her husband Orest, parents John and Mary Olinik, mother and father-in-law Annie and Isaac Kotylak, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Reg Cybulski, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Emil Gebert, brother-in-law Jack Winniski and sister-in-law Vicky Olinik.  Also predeceased by members of Orest’s family.

She will forever be loved and remembered by her daughter Gail (Kim) Senft and grandchildren Dale (Tracey) and Jason (Sara); son Daryl (Corena) and grandchildren Kirsten (Jared) and Matthew (Payton).  Also survived by siblings Bill (Helen) Olinik, Anne Winniski, Helen (Lionel) Bolen and John (Janice) Olinik and numerous other relatives including Orest’s siblings and spouses and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Pasqua Hospital Oncology and Medicine Unit, Fort Qu’appelle All Nations Healing Hospital and Allan Blair Cancer Centre for their care during this difficult time, with a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care unit for their exceptional care and compassion during her final days.

A family graveside service for Kathy and Orest will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in Katherine’s name to the Friends of 3B, Pasqua Hospital c/o Hospitals of Regina Foundation Inc. or All Nations Healing Hospital Auxiliary.

Messages of condolences may be left for the family on the Conley Funeral Home website or Facebook page.
