Leona G. Peigan Born August 21, 1957 at Fort Qu’Appelle Indian Hospital passed away in Regina, SK on April 20, 2020. 

Predeceased by her Partner Gerald Norten, Paternal Grandparents Thomas Peigan & Margaret Peigan nee Kahnapace, Maternal Grandparents John & Elsie Gambler nee Keepness, Parents James & Mabel Peigan, Brothers Tom, John, Ian, Dwight Peigan & Barry Toto. Sisters Jaqueline Peigan and Doreen Watetch nee Toto. Brother in Laws Lyle Lavallee, Archie Laliberte & Jack McAllister. Sister in laws Lorna & Hanya Peigan. Granddaughter Baby Girl Norten. Niece April Lavallee. Son in law Raylon Noname. In laws Mary Jane & Jack Gardiner.

Survived by her children Timothy, Danielle, Kristen (Ozzie) and Kayla (Skye). Her Grandchildren Terrell, Reighlene (Brandon), Heavenly, Marcus, Adele,Willy, Jackson, Skye Blue, Meleigha, Mylen, Timmy, Isaac, Keenan, Jonny, Lexxis, Jaymez, Lincoln, Skylar and Nihkosis. Great Grand Daughter Brielle. Brothers James Peigan, Sheldon (Linda) Peigan. Sisters Donna Toto, Mildred (Tommy) Cappo, Gayle (Mike) Gates, Carol Lavallee and Jacqueline Watetch. Aunts Gloria Gambler and Isabelle Keepness. Life long Best Friend Trudy Cyr. Brother in laws Leon (Glenda) Montgrand, Alfred Sr (Frances) Montgrand, Jonny (Arlene) Montgrand, Paul Laliberte and Cliff Laliberte. Sister in laws Eileen (Calvin) Murray, Cora (Gabe) Gardiner & Anne (Len) Rosebluff.  Numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Leona loved to read, make memories with her Grandchildren, play bingo, she loved and supported her Nation as she served one term on Council. Leona worked at INAC, Pasqua Band Office, Treaty Four Lands, Pasqua Headstart and Pasqua Health Centre (CHR). She loved to work with children and children were drawn to her. Leona was always there to help others in any way she could Leona will be remembered as a kind, caring and loving woman.

The family understands the unique circumstance with the COVID-19 pandemic. We regretfully will be unable to have a traditional wake and funeral. We will be adhering to Saskatchewan Health protocol and regulations of gathering restrictions to ensure the safety of those who come to pay their respects. The family respects the safety of all and will comply with social distancing. It is with great regret that we will refrain from receiving any handshakes, hugs or physical contact. We ask that our family and friends please join us in prayer if you are unable to attend due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visitations will be held Friday, April 24, 2020 from 11:00a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Conley Funeral Home, Fort Qu’Appelle SK. Live streaming of the private family service will be held following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. and can be watched on the Leona Peigan Memorial Facebook page.
