Wicanhpi Win- Lorraine Marion Yuzicapi
May 5, 1944 - January 22, 2025
On January 22, 2025 our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend, Maiden of the Stars, joined the love of her life Ivan in the spirit world. The family believes that the many relatives and friends that have gone before her welcome her with open arms and in love. She lives on at Star camp with her parents Alex and Stella Goodwill and her siblings Howard and Audrey. She is also joining her Yuzicapi family-in-law which she was the last living relative of her generation.
Lorraine is survived by her 4 biological children Trevlen, Tanya and her twins Harley (Denni) and Holly. Her Grandchildren Keenan, Derian, Dallon, Chasity, Nova and Tenelea along with their families and children. Lorraine has 10 siblings in the Goodwill family that are still living along with the generations of their families. In the Dakota way of life she has adopted many children and has loved them as her own. Many people call her Mom, Auntie, Kunshi and Uncici.
As a beautiful Dakota winyan, Lorraine loved her Dakota way of life. This way of life brought many people to her home and to her community of Standing Buffalo. She served her people in many roles including leadership, health and culture making impacts on anyone who made the time to listen to her. Her passion was to share her Dakota traditional foods knowledge and cultural knowledge. She travelled to many places around the world to do so hoping to inspire other cultures to do the same for their people. This is a way of life her children and grandchildren also love and will carry on to the best of their abilities. Many people will feel the impacts of her passing.
The family would like to thank everyone that helped with her care during her end of life. There were many professionals and family members that advocated for her to receive the best care. Her stay at the All Nations Healing Hospital allowed the family to have some peace at home as well as meeting remarkable nurses that were compassionate about her stay. Thank you for taking care of our mother, grand mother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, relative and friend. She is a strong Dakota Woman. She has made a huge impact on the many people who came through her home and her life.
A Wake will be held at the Standing Buffalo School Gymnasium on Sunday January 26, 2025 starting at 4 pm with the funeral on January 27, 2025 at 12 pm. She will be put to rest in the Standing Buffalo Cemetery.
