Louise Eileen Kahnapace (nee Sangwais)

The matriarch, mother, and kokum was called home to the creator on March 29th, 2026. Louise was born September 15th . 1935 to O.B and Ruth Sangwais (nee Isaac), she was the last surviving sister of six.
Louise was predeceased by her parents and sisters Alice Ponace, Lillian Hain, Janet Thomas, Edna Pelletier, and Joyce Sangwais; husband Harvey Kahnapace; sons Keith in infancy, Harvey Herald (Ft. Totten, North Dakota), Greg Sangwais, and Alex.
Louise is survived by her children Debra Herald (Ft. Totten, North Dakota), Lionel, Carolyn, Eli, Kevin, Miranda, Tina (Marvin), Leroy, Milton, and Errol; and special nephews Calvin Sangwais, and Joseph Kahnapace.
Louise leaves a legacy of five generations and was recognized as the oldest member of Pasqua First Nation at the age of 90. Louise grew up on Sakimay First Nation, married and raised her children on Pasqua First Nation then eventually moved her family to Regina, Saskatchewan. Louise loved pow-wow's, round dances and attended many ceremonies throughout her life. Louise was an avid fan of Highway Express where she and her sisters obtained the name “Golden Girls”. Louise was given the status of being the number one fan of her sons and grandsons slow pitch, fast ball, and hockey.
Our family would like to give thanks to the staff at Balcarres Intergrated Nursing Home and staff at the All Nations Healing Hospital for their care, compassion, and kindness shown to Louise during her stay. A big heart felt thanks to all of Louise's family and friends for their love and support.
Wake will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 4 pm in the Chief Ben Pasqua Memorial Hall on Pasqua First Nation, SK. Funeral Service will take place the following day, Friday, April 3, 2026, at 11 am in the same location. Interment in Ashams Beach Cemetery, Pasqua First Nation .
