August 26, 1966 – January 6, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, son, brother, uncle, moshom and friend Murray (Claude).

Murray was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Victor and Mary Starr, maternal grandparents, Robert and Alma Akapew, his father Willard Starr, father in-law Donald Henry, godfather Gerry Starr, brothers Brian and Allan Starr, adopted brothers Everette and Kenneth Akapew, nephew Jarryd Starr and child in infancy.

Murray is survived by his mother Doris Starr, mother of his children Pearl Henry, mother in-law Marlene Henry, sons Tyler (Clementine), Jordan, Trevor (Mia), Jovi (Sadie), and daughters Janelle, Jelyssa, Misty, and Rianna and his beloved grandchildren Suraya, Zaiden, Zane, Xavier, Maximus, and Isabella. Brothers Clayton and Warren, sisters Eunice, Sonya M, Starr, Dawn Tuckanow, Gail Starr, and Geraldine Starr, adopted brothers Dale Whitecap, Ivan Severight, Garret Henry, Garnet Henry Jr (Pokey), godmother Edith Starr and godson Brian Tuckanow.

The family would like to thank the ANHH staff for their care and compassion, as well as the Star Blanket Cree Nation Chief and Council, his IRS work family and his ceremonial family for their support.

Wake will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at 3pm in the Okanese Learning Centre, Okanese First Nation. Funeral Services will take place the following day, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11 am in the same location. Interment at the Starr Family Cemetery.
