It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Martin “Marty” Karasin on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the age of 89. He will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan Karasin, daughter Tracey Karasin-Bellisle (Greg Bellisle), grandsons Levi Bellisle and Tanner Bellisle. He will be sadly missed by all of his loving nieces, nephews and numerous family members and friends. Martin is now reunited with his eldest daughter Michelle in heaven. Martin was predeceased by his parents Michael and Katherine Karasinski, brothers Chuck (Helen), Joseph (Stefi), Jim (Francis) and sister Pauline (Norm) Twemlow.
Marty was born in Limerick, SK in 1936 on the family farm. Marty’s career started in Regina by joining his brothers at Karasin Bros. Ltd. Later on Marty ventured off on his own with Joan where they started up Marty’s Plumbing & Heating. They owned and operated the business until their retirement. It was well known that Marty could and would tackle any challenge that was presented to him. He loved working with his hands building projects, making sausage, smoking meats, gardening, loved his pets, reading, nature, wildlife, all types of fishing and hunting. Marty could tell you anything you asked about his favorite sports. He was an absolute die hard fan of the Roughriders, when curling season hit he was glued to the tv and don’t get him started on his Blue Jays.
Marty enjoyed many years camping at his seasonal campsite at Nipawin Regional Park with his wife Joan and family. One of his most cherished trips with Joan was to Alaska to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. Marty’s greatest highlight in life was spending time with his two grandsons.
Marty’s passing will be a huge loss to his family. The teaching and knowledge he provided was priceless and will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Last Mountain Pioneer Home for all the care and compassion that they provided to him for the last 9 months.
