Obituary

Moses Jorden Cappo

February 23, 1985 - June 16, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Moses Jordan Cappo,  Pee-aayseewakeemow (I’ve Seen the Thunderbirds Home). Beloved father to Kamaeh, Quddus and Jace.

Moses was a member of the Baha’I Faith who also practiced his Indigenous ways under the guidance of his father, late grandfathers James and Harvey Ironeagle and late Kokum Vernique Oochoo. He attended many Raindances and ceremonies which without a doubt helped him through the struggles he faced in life. Moses was an excellent pitcher who at a young age would play and practice with his dad and his various cousins most of the day. In his older years, he went to numerous FHQ summer games and eventually went on to play for the Muscowpetung Rez and Mustangs Ball Teams. He pitched in numerous tournaments, and championships including the Native Fastball Championship. Moses was a champion pool player, playing all over the States and Canada and qualifying to play in the Canadian Junior Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He won in many individual tournaments and participated in teams with his uncles, cousins and friends. His favorite team was the Possums with his sister (Yvette) father (Kamao) and brother (Haydar). In addition to all his accomplishments, Moses loved horses. He would spend many hours riding Brandy, his first horse, working with his father and brother to train horses, and teaching others about horses. Special gratitude and mention are given to his beautiful mother, Eleanor Cyr, who cared for him throughout his life which included his final years. Moses had a special place in his heart for everyone, especially for his siblings but mostly for his children and long-time friend and partner Larissa Thompson.

Moses is survived by his father Kamao (Cora) Cappo, mother Eleanor (Trevor) Cyr, his siblings Jackie Cyr, Solomon Cyr, Yvette (Skylar) Cappo, Dallas Keepness, Kisis-Isquao Cappo, Haydar-Ali Cappo and Vernique Cappo as well as his grandparents Olive Ironeagle, Louise Cyr, Bruce and Deanna Starlight. Aunts/Uncles Patrina (Lyndsay) Pasqua, Lorne (Margaret) Cappo, Liana Daniels, Berva (Todd) Cappo, Todd (Candace) Cappo, Simone (Bill) Cappo, William Cappo, Elaine Cyr, Lynn Cyr, Richard (Tracey)Cyr, Karen (Darren) Cyr, Barbra Cyr, Debbie (Paul) Cyr, and Sheila (Aron) Cyr. Predeceased by his Mushum James Ironeagle, Mushum Harvey Ironeagle, Kokum Vernique Oochoo, Mushum Albert Occhoo, Mushum Billy Cappo, Mushum Clifford Longman as well as late uncles and aunties. He was also loved by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as relatives of the Cyr, Longman, Ironeagle, Cappo, Pasqua, and Starlight families. The family apologizes to anyone that was missed during this process and would like to thank everyone who played a part in Moses’ life. The moments we create together are irreplaceable.
