Phillip Wolfe Obituary

Phillip Joseph (JC) Wolfe, age 69, passed away peacefully to join his loved ones in the spirit world on April 4th, 2020. His lifetime companion was at his side in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan when Creator called him home. Phillip was born on December 11, 1950 and proudly called Muskowekwan First Nation home for the majority of his life.

Phillip is survived by his life companion Elaine V. Severight; son Reginald Bellerose; daughters Vanessa Wolfe-Poorman(Hugh), Juanita Wolfe, April Roper (Tyrone) and grandchildren Virginia Desjarlais, Satarrah Firtana, Talan Poorman, TayahPoorman, Brooke Kayseas, Courage Kayseas, Passion Roper, Deja Roper, Rafael Roper; brother Ambrose Wolfe (Leslie), sister Shirley Wolfe-Keller (Buck) and numerous relatives that all held a special place in Phillip’s life. Phillip always had a special nickname for family and friends that he loved because anyone that was a part of his life became a special part of our family. Phillip loved his teasing, loved to laugh and his no filter quick wit was like no other.

Phillip was an advocate and a leader that contributed to the love and betterment of his community. He held many roles in his lifetime from a respected elder, Chief, Councillor, Land ClaimsCoordinator to his love of the road as a truck driver with his loyal travelling partner Poopee. Phillip loved family gatherings; in any setting, family meant everything to him. Phillip was an intelligent man who left many teachings and gifts; he instilled the value of working for what he wanted in life and passed these teachings on to those he loved. Phillip will be missed by so many; he left lasting impressions in the hearts of those who knew him.

The family understands the unique circumstance with the COVID-19 pandemic. We regretfully will be unable to have a traditional wake and funeral. We will be adhering to Saskatchewan Health protocol and regulations to ensure the safety of those who come to pay their respects. The family respects the safety of all and will comply with social distancing. It is with great regret that we will refrain from receiving any handshakes, hugs or physical contact. We ask that our family and friends please join us in prayer if you are unable to attend due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A viewing will be at the Muskowekwan Band Hall on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. After the viewing a graveside service will commence at the MuskowekwanCemetary with Elder Dexter Asapace officiating. A memorial gathering will be at a later date when the pandemic restrictionsare lifted.

The family would like to acknowledge the dedication and service of the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic (Dr. Zarkovic), PasquaHospital (Unit 4B, Dr. Keilly & Dr. Baldwin) and the All Nations Healing Hospital staff that became like family in the care of our loved one.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
