July 5, 1987 – June 17, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Rita-Ann Helen McNab in Chibougamou Hospital, Chibougamou, Quebec. Rita Ann had a long and difficult journey dealing with breast, bone and brain cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast and bone cancer on December 16, 2022.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Melvin & Mary Ann McNab, Frank Robert & Rita Brass, Eugene Migwans and Theresa Bisson; her father Peter Brass; uncles Frank Brass and Wayne Robert McNab; auntie Linda Brass; brother-in-law Jonathan Bird Sr.; niece Ariel Bird; cousin Matthew Geddes.

Rita-Ann is survived by her daughter Heaven Lee Harris; parents Brian & Cindy Bisson; her northern parents Aaron & Connie McNab; siblings Samantha, Brett, Darcie, Ethan, Jamie, Randall, Mary Ann, Zackery, Gina Debassige and Saydie Jerry. She is also survived by numbers Mushums, Kokums, aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rita Ann will be dearly missed by her soul sisters Chelsea Capissisit, Brittani Delorme, Jordyn Gurash, Jordana Jolly, Sara Denny, Danielle Ellis and Lisa Alexander.

There will not be a wake. The final visitation/viewing will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 10 am, with a funeral service at 1 pm in the old gymnasium on George Gordon First Nation.

The family asks that pregnant women and children under the age of 12 to not be in attendance.

The family would like to thank the Cree First Nation of Waswanipi, George Gordon First Nation, Cree Patient Services, Montreal General and the Neuro, Montreal Neurological Institute Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, Chibougamou Hospital, Conley Funeral Home, friends and family for Rita Ann's care and the support that was received.

It was Rita Ann's wish to be buried on the George Gordon First Nation and we thank everyone for helping make that wish a reality.
