On October 13, 2025, River William Taniskayinew was called home by Creator. He began his journey to the spirit world at the age of 31.

A wake will take place on Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Old Gymnasium on George Gordon First Nation at 4pm. Funeral service will be held on the following day, Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2pm in the same location.
