Rocky Riess Obituary

Rocky Ryan Riess

March 24, 1977 – April 26, 2021

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear son, father, brother and friend to all, Rocky Ryan Riess on April 26, 2021.

Rocky was born on March 24, 1977 in Regina Saskatchewan to Virgil and Judy (Antoniuk) Riess, the 2nd child of 4. Rocky grew up in Wynyard SK. He was an energetic little boy with many paths worn through the garden from pushing his trike, as it was faster than riding. He could run faster on all fours than most could on 2 feet. His mischievous smile always made his grandparents smile and laugh. He attended all his schooling in Wynyard. It was in high school where he met his first love Tami. Soon after meeting Tami, their first child Brendan Ryan was born, September 21, 1996. Rocky worked in the oilfields to provide for his family. Rocky and Tami were married July 4, 1998. Dalton Dale was born January 19, 2000. Unfortunately, Rocky and Tami grew apart and eventually divorced.

Rocky then moved to Alberta to continue work on the oil rigs. While in Alberta Rocky met the love of his life Yulanda, and his forever step-son Aiden. They were very happy together and moved to Grandview, MB in 2006. On August 25, 2008 Tristin Ryan was born, this completed Rocky’s family. Rocky and Yulanda moved back to Wynyard bringing all the boys together, hoping they would create a brotherly bond, similar to Rocky’s unbreakable bond with Rusty. Although Rocky and Yulanda ended up going their separate ways, they stayed close friends, and she will always be the love of his life. Rocky loved his boys with all of his heart, they are his pride and joy.

Rocky was a hard worker, he had many different jobs throughout his life, and was good at everything he did. If you had Rocky on your payroll, you got a hell of a guy who always gave 140% of himself to the job. Everyone knew that Rocky would give you the shirt off his back with no regard to himself.

If he wasn’t at work or with his boys, Rocky could be found tinkering on his beloved Harley. Rocky loved to ride that bike. He said “When you ride you are free, no worries, or cares, just freedom.” – Now his spirit is truly free. Rocky also loved to tinker on vehicles and spending time with Rusty. Rocky loved children and animals, especially those of his friends.

Rocky leaves behind to mourn his passing, three sons: Brendan, Dalton (Ariel), and Tristin; step-son Aiden; parents Virgil and Judy; siblings: Rusty (Tracy), Tammy (Trent), Michael (Tammy Z); nieces and nephews: Logan (Monica), Randi (Austin), Taylor (Alysa), Tyrene, and Tanner; great nephew Houston, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Rocky’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in Rocky’s name to the Marvin Pickering Memorial Ride, Foam Lake SK.
