The family is sad to announce the passing of Valerie Mary Matechuk “ Woman sitting with the big rock” “Asiniya ewitapimat Iskwew”.

She is predeceased by parents Thomas Matechuk and Rose Matechuk (Napootican); grandparents Jim and Mary Ann Matechuk, Andrew Kay and Clara Napootican; brothers Dennis, Morris; sister Ida; son Kendall; granddaughter Ashton Ironchild.

She is survived by husband Kevin Asapace; children Owen, Jenell, Hartley (Tanya), Antoinette (Jason), Vanessa (Cory); grandchildren Alicia, Deaysia, Keanu, Damon, Kaylee, Kylie, Rayne, Hart Jr., Nikosis, Latavia, N Tanis, Jasmine, Kendall, Basil, Amaya, Kevin, Nightsong, Chapans, Zyanna, Amiya, Zayrain, Richelle, one on way; siblingsAlvin Matechuck, Lawrence Matechuck, Lorraine Matechuck, Thomas Matechuck. Adopted brother and sister Edward Poorman and Christina Poorman. Special friends Judy Desjarlais, Maxine Pelletier, Pattycake Pratt, Shelly Fayant and other numerous family and friends.

Wake will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the New School Gym, Kawacatoose First Nation. The Funeral Service will be held the following day, Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the same location.
